Preventing 2.3 million windows from going to landfill or incineration

16/01/2020

December 2019, Dixmuide – Vinyl Belgium joined an industry visit at the Deceuninck PVC recycling plant. The event allowed participants from the industry and trade unions to gain a deeper knowledge of the good practices in the European PVC industry, and more particularly those put in place by Deceuninck.

On this occasion, VinylPlus® presented its sustainability labelling scheme for PVC Building and Construction products, and the progress of the European PVC industry against the VinylPlus® Commitment towards a sustainability. Since 2000, 5 million tonnes of PVC were recycled, thereby saving 10 million tonnes of C02.

The visit of Deceuninck PVC recycling plant showcased the impact of their recycling activities on their ecological footprint. Thanks to recycling, Deceuninck already prevented 2.3 million windows from going to landfill or incineration. In 2019, Deceuninck was awarded with the VinylPlus® Product Label, demonstrating strong sustainability performances, including in energy efficiency, in emissions and transportation, waste management, recycling, and in the use of additives.
